Coffee exports up 44.79% in Jan

The coffee board said that in January 2011, the exports of coffee from India rose 44.79 per cent to 20,957 tonnes against 14,474 lakh tonnes in January 2010 whereas the unit value realisation rose 15.57 per cent at Rs 1.41 lakh a tonne against Rs 1.22 lakh a tonne in 2010.
Meanwhile, the exports of coffee were up 67.23 per cent to Rs 296.95 crore against Rs 177.56 crore, in terms of rupee whereas it was up 70.89 per cent at $ 65.28 million against $ 38.20 million in terms of dollar.
The exports of arabica parchment constituted 5,780 tonnes (last year's exports stood at 4,285 tonnes); arabica cherry at 1,624 tonnes (1,014 tonnes); robusta parchment at 2,180 tonnes (175 tonnes) and robusta cherry stood at 5,457 tonnes (3,667 tonnes) while instant coffee total exports stood at 3,896 (1,148 tonnes).
Moreover, regarding the importers, Italy bought 5,280 tonnes (arabica 1,904.2 tonnes, robusta 3,375.8 tonnes), while Germany imported 4,028 tonnes (arabica 3,500.1 tonnes, robusta 528.4 tonnes) and Russian Federation imported 1,238.2 tonnes (arabica 36.6 tonnes, robusta 1,201.6 tonnes).
Similarly, Finland imported 1,104.9 tonnes (arabica 21.6 tonnes, robusta 1,083.3 tonnes) and Spain imported 930.4 tonnes (arabica 40 tonnes, robusta 890.4 tonnes).
The Coffee Board of India is an autonomous body, functioning under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The Board serves as a friend, philosopher and guide of the coffee industry in India. Set up under an Act of the Parliament of India in the year 1942, the Board focuses on research, development, extension, quality upgradation, market information, and the domestic and external promotion of Coffees of India.
