NEW DELHI (Commodity Online) : Coffee Board of India said country’s exports in January rose about 45% from a year earlier to 20,957 metric tons.
In a statement, the Board said the rise in exports was mainly due to better crop availability in local market and firm overseas demand.
Arabica exports climbed about 40% to 7,404 tons, while robusta shipments nearly doubled to 7,637 tons.
Arabica is usually harvested from mid-November, but arrivals were delayed this year by around two weeks due to the rains. Robusta arrivals start in February.
The South Asian nation exports about two-thirds of its production. Italy, Russia, Germany and Belgium together account for more than 50% of India's coffee shipments.
