Robusta coffee futures jumped as much as 4.7 percent to $2,549 a metric ton on NYSE Liffe as roasters bought beans.
“European roasters are doing a bit of buying,” Luis Rangel, vice president of commodity derivatives at ICAP Futures LLC in Jersey City, New Jersey, said by phone.
Robusta coffee for July delivery closed up $67, or 2.8 percent, at $2,502 a ton in London. Arabica coffee for July delivery climbed 7.05 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $2.9785 a pound on ICE Futures U.S. by 12:47 p.m. local time in New York.
